(KNSI) – Some late-night owls were treated to a dazzling display in the heavens.
The Northern Lights were visible all over northern Minnesota, reaching as far south as the St. Cloud Metro Area. They appeared in the sky late Sunday into early Monday. The recent light show is the result of the Perseid meteor shower, which has started to peak.
Sauk Rapids officers working the late night shift could see the natural phenomenon firsthand.
Stargazers may have another chance to see the show late Monday night into Tuesday. The farther north you go, the brighter they will be. Viewers of the Aurora Borealis will also need to get away from town.
