(KNSI) — The Summer Olympics are happening for the next two weeks in Paris, France, but 4,209 miles to the west, they are leaving an impact in this community thanks to one athlete, in particular.
Alise Post Willoughby has qualified for her fourth Olympics. So far in her career she has managed a silver medal in BMX racing before. Willoughby will be looking to improve on that Thursday and Friday and at least one local watch party will be showing her results live.
The Ultimate Sports Bar in Waite Park will carry the action as it happens beginning at noon. Team USA consists of five members, of which Willoughby is the most experienced. In addition to her medal, she has three world titles. Willoughby began racing at just six years old, when BMX was not a recognized Olympic sport.
She says even in her fourth go around, it is humbling and an honor to represent the country.
