(KNSI) – A Sartell High School senior went to Washington, D.C., after taking the top prize in the annual Congressional Art Competition.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer met with Lydia Holmgren at his congressional office to congratulate her on her win with an outstanding pencil drawing of her great-grandmother, Pearl. The sketch will be displayed in the halls of Congress for the next year.
The drawing will hang with the other winning pieces in the tunnel connecting the U.S. Capitol and the Cannon House Office Building.
The Congressional Art Competition is an annual event for high school students across the United States. One winner is selected from each of the 435 Congressional Districts.
