(KNSI) — The water engineering consulting firm AE2S has completed the first phase “Facility Study” for the Waite Park Water Treatment Plant, focusing on PFAS removal and plant upgrades. They will present their findings and review their work at the City Council work session on Monday.

The Facilities Plan for Waite Park’s water treatment plant aims to inform the Council, funding agencies, and the public about the current state and concerns of the existing water system. It will also identify improvements to meet increasingly stringent federal regulations. The plan will provide an overview of the current water supply system’s functionality, capacity, and condition, review design guidelines for the water supply, treatment, and distribution, and look at potential alternatives. The consultants will also discuss probable project costs and outline the next steps.

Also at the session, staff will present a draft for an updated policy regarding rural tax rates. The draft includes previously discussed items and the existing Rural Tax Policy approved by the City Council in 2016. If the Council opts to move forward, it will incorporate a public hearing and consider the policy at an upcoming City Council meeting, tentatively scheduled for July 15th.

The site concept plan for the expansion of public safety/city hall will also be discussed. The plan includes a physical walk-around of the property to clarify the proposed layout and its impact on the overall site layout.

The session starts at 4:30.
