(KNSI) – Governor Tim Walz has appointed a doctor from CentraCare St. Cloud to the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
Dr. Sarah Carter, a pediatrician at the CentraCare Riverview Campus Clinic, will begin her four-year term on Wednesday. Her expertise will help oversee the 26,000 healthcare professionals licensed by the group. This includes registering doctors, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, acupuncturists, athletic trainers, genetic counselors, naturopathic doctors, and traditional midwives and enforcing rules and regulations. The board is also tasked with protecting the public from doctors who may violate their oath or make catastrophic decisions that cost lives.
She will serve along with 15 other Minnesotans and is among the 11 members who are licensed doctors. Members can serve up to eight years consecutively.
She replaces Dr. Kimberly Spaulding, a doctor in obstetrics, with the St. Cloud Medical Group.
