(KNSI) – A St. Cloud State University alum and Minnesota baseball legend will be the special guest for the Rox home opener on Friday, May 31st.

Long-time television voice of Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins, Dick Bremer, will be tossing out the first pitch, interacting with fans, and signing autographs. The St. Cloud squad opens up the home portion of the 2024 Northwoods League season against the Duluth Huskies.

Bremer was a Twins play-by-play announcer from 1983 to 2023, broadcasting 4,972 games. He called the action for several Hall of Famers on the field and had five join him as color commentators over his career, including Harmon Killebrew, Paul Molitor, Jack Morris, and perhaps his most famous pairing, Bert Blyleven.

Bremer graduated from SCSU in 1978. He got his start on-air at our sister station, KCLD. He says, “I was blessed to have a 48-year broadcasting career and was blessed to have it begin in St. Cloud. It’s always been a pleasure to visit St. Cloud since my days at SCSU and I’m really looking forward to enjoying the Rox game on May 31st.”

Other fun for the home opener includes a Friday fireworks show presented by Coborn’s after the game.
