(KNSI) – A Rice man will spend years in prison for raping a woman.
In February 2023, Police were called to a home in Brockway Township after the victim said she had been sexually assaulted the month prior. She told investigators that on January 6th, 2023, Romaine Anthony Reid asked her to put their kids to bed. The victim says he then grabbed her arm and started to wrestle roughly with her as she asked him to stop.
The victim saw blood and went to the bathroom as Reid followed her. The 25-year-old then followed her into the bedroom, where she was raped. The victim was wearing an Apple iWatch, which recorded the assault. Investigators say the recording matched the woman’s version of events.
Reid was convicted in a bench trial before Judge Andrew Pearson. In a bench trial, the defendant chooses to have his case heard by a judge instead of a jury, with the judge deciding innocence or guilt and sentencing.
Judge Pearson sentenced him Thursday to 20 years in prison with credit for 80 days served in jail.
