(KNSI) — The St. Cloud VA hopes to ease the transition from deployment to desks through a Dress for Success event to help veterans get hired.

VA Public Affairs Officer Barry Venable tells KNSI that all the bases of the career search process will be covered. “It’s a personalized prep day for veterans. They will gain not only interview skills and be able to participate in mock interviews and have the resume reviewed and refined, but we will also provide them with hygiene products and professional interview attire.”

Venable says vets will get professional headshots to use on LinkedIn and other job listing sites. Taking advantage of internet resources to job hunt and how to use keywords that will get your résumé and cover letter in front of a recruiter is a special set of skills that will not be familiar to everyone but will be taught to those who come to the April 16th event. It runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. inside the auditorium.

Dress for Success is just the first career-oriented event this month, says Venable. “We have community partners, businesses in the St Cloud area community who really go the extra mile and support the Dress for Success event by participating in a veteran job fair, which is going to be coming up on April 30th.”

The two events are purposely tied together, slated to occur a couple of weeks apart so veterans can put their newly acquired skills to use.
