(KNSI) – Officials say the 14th annual Pack the Porches Food and Fun Drive in St. Cloud was a rousing success.
Between 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Friday, the food and fund drive collected 4,108 pounds of food and $21,974. Coborn’s matched up to $13,000 in donations. The event benefits Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf.
Pack the Porches curbside drop-off locations were at Pioneer Place on Fifth and St. Cloud Financial Credit Union in Sartell.
Several businesses across the St. Cloud area also hosted Pack the Porches food and fund drives leading up to the event, with some continuing throughout the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, which ends April 6.
Acting food shelf executive director Renae Sternke said, “Increasing costs continue to create challenges and food insecurities right here in our communities. In 2023, our Emergency Services Food Shelf distributed more than 2,000,000 pounds of food and we anticipate the need to increase this year.”
The donations will benefit people in Stearns, Benton, and Sherburne Counties.
