(KNSI) — The cause of a fire at a St. Cloud apartment complex is under investigation.

According to the fire department’s critical incident report, a 911 call came in at 4:30 Tuesday afternoon for an alarm sounding at the building on the 500 block of 16th Street South. An updated report showed a possible bathroom trashcan. Crews from St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, and Waite Park all responded and arrived to find a fire in the main community area bathroom that had extended into the ceiling, attic, and void spaces above.

Firefighters were able to quickly get in and put out the flames. Several residents who live there have limited mobility and needed assistance evacuating. Members from Mayo Ambulance and the St. Cloud Police Department responded to help. Metro Bus also sent vehicles to keep residents warm and dry.

After several hours, residents were allowed back into the building as inspectors checked for health and safety.

No one was hurt.
