(KNSI) — The Sartell Police Department has been overwhelmed with donations recently, taking in roughly $50,000.
Chief Brandon Silgjord tells KNSI News he is incredibly grateful to have such a supportive community, pointing to the addition of therapy K9 Kimber and the squad car project to honor veterans and bring awareness to PTSD and officer and veteran suicide.
Chief Silgjord personally thanked master cookie maker Shelly Rolfes for her support. She drops off goodies about once a week and recently handed them $500, which he says went above and beyond. “Her acts as a baker and just trying to give some warmth to our officers through treats and sweets was good enough and then she donates her cash to us is pretty heartwarming.”
Gilleland Chevrolet recently donated to the department through the Chevy First Responder Program. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation also handed over a grant for more than $16,000 for the K9 program and necessary training.
