(KNSI) — The Sartell Police Department has received a generous grant from Firehouse Subs.
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant of $16,620 will allow the department to secure a new police K9, plus offer tuition and needed training materials for the newly revived program. Officials with the Sartell PD say it will fulfill a critical need.
Chief Brandon Silgjord thanked the foundation and the local Firehouse Subs location in St. Cloud. “We take great pride in providing lifesaving support to our community and these funds will allow us to advance our abilities.”
Silgjord says the program could not be revived without the foundation’s financial assistance. “The awarded K9, tactical handler equipment and courses will be vital to this program now and in the long term,” according to a media release.
Since its inception in 2005, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded more than $77 million to first responders for equipment, education, scholarships and disaster relief in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
