(KNSI) — One of the leaders for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota has been honored for her work.

BBBS Program Director Ann Matvick is the 2023 Brick Award Program Staff Person of the Year. She was recently presented with the accolade at the national conference in Anaheim, California.

The award goes to someone who has gone above and beyond to achieve high-quality matches and serve more volunteers and children. According to BBBS of Central Minnesota, during the 2022-23 school year, Matvick helped put in place a new school and site-based program in Holdingford, teamed up with Granite Partners to get the BIG Partners initiative underway, and to the Dr. Potter Bigs on Campus initiative by adding matches at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. Starting in Fall 2023, a third site will be added to the initiative at St. Cloud Technical & Community College.

Under Matvick’s direction, the local chapter has grown to serve more than 400 youth each year. Matvick has been with the nonprofit for 26 years.

This is the second straight year they’ve been honored. At the 2022 national conference, the agency received the Gold Standard Award, recognizing agencies that have increased their revenue and the number of matches in the program.
