(KNSI) – The fun heats up after the sun goes down again this coming Saturday.
Saint Cloud State University is bringing back its Best Buy After Dark community gaming event following a wildly successful debut in January, which saw around 300 people attend. It is meant for everyone, college and high school students plus community members.
It provides an opportunity to gather and play video games with others who have similar interests. Bringing your own controller is encouraged and you get a chance to compete in favorites like Mario Kart, Rocket League, and Super Smash Brothers from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
There will be tournaments in Smash Ultimate and Smash Melee. Everything is a single elimination bracket. A link to register is here. There is no fee to get in and pizza and drinks will be provided. Check-in is scheduled for 8:00.
Informational booths will be set up for SCSU students to learn about different opportunities within esports on campus, including helping to produce tournament broadcasts. Also needed are announcers. There are a growing number of academic programs incorporating video games and live events into the curriculum.
Best Buy is located at 4130 W. Division Street.
