(KNSI) — A former teacher who threw a hockey stick at a student last year will spend two days in jail beginning Sunday.
Kimberly Neubauer was teaching at Princeton Primary School when she was seen on surveillance video in March of 2022 throwing a stick at a second grader. Eight-year-old Easton Johnson is seen gently tossing his stick on a pile of other sticks before Neubauer picks it up and hurls it directly at Easton’s face. The impact split his lip, bruised his face and knocked out his front tooth. Easton immediately put his hands over his face, and Neubauer seemingly scolded him as he picked up his stick again to try and return it to the pile before he turned around to run out of the gym.
She pleaded guilty to third-degree assault.
After the allegations were substantiated, Neubauer was placed on an unpaid leave of absence for the remainder of the school year, but she was allowed to retire. She said she has taken an anger management class.
