(KNSI) – The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for several counties, including central Minnesota, as confidence is increasing that the area will see several inches of snow later this week.
As of Tuesday morning, the watch is in place from noon Thursday to 6:00 a.m. Friday. Most locations can expect at least two inches of snow. There is a “high likelihood” of at least four inches and a lesser chance, but still on the table prediction of at least six to eight inches. Forecasters are also monitoring another system that could bring additional accumulating snowfall late Saturday into Sunday.
For St. Cloud, the chance for snow starts early Wednesday morning, with the greatest chances for heavy snow Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. Then a chance for snow starts again at about 6:00 Saturday morning through early Monday. The next system is still a ways off, so the timing and track could change.
