(KNSI) — The Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf got a major shot in the arm thanks to Stearns Bank and the Stearns Bank Community Challenge in partnership with the Central Minnesota Community Foundation.
Stearns Bank offered matching funds during the annual challenge held in November and December.
On its Facebook page, officials from both organizations thanked everyone who donated and Stearns Bank for the match. Together $131,000 was raised for the food shelf.
The food shelf has five-to-one spending power, so for every $1 someone would spend at the grocery store, Catholic Charities can buy five times as much food as a regular customer.
