(KNSI) – Long-time Waite Park Police Chief Dave Bentrud is hanging up his hat next year. Bentrud will leave the force in May after 15 years with the department and 32 years in law enforcement.
The retiring chief says it was just time.
“I wanted to give myself an opportunity to do something different. Not even not necessarily law enforcement related. I’m of that age and, you know, it’s a young person’s game, and it was just the right time for me.”
Bentrud says he wouldn’t change a thing.
“It’s been a great career. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The last couple of years have had some challenges. But in spite of all that, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
