(KNSI) – A Big Lake brewer has three beers featured at this year’s Minnesota State Fair. So, how does an item get chosen to be featured on such a big stage?

Lupulin Brewing Company territory manager Kam Hyland says they start working with fair vendors in January and February to make something special.

“We’ve got a great production team. Our brewers have tons of experience with developing certain sorts of recipes to really match what our customer wants. They want to find something that’s fairly unique and not something that necessarily everyone else is going to have.”

Hayland says it’s an honor to be chosen by the vendors to carry and sell their products.

“The Minnesota State Fair is one of the events a lot of Minnesotans look forward to and we’re just glad we can be a part of it. And we can make sure that people from around the state get an opportunity to taste our product.”

Lupulin Brewing has three beers sold exclusively at the fair. They are the cherry limeade blonde at The Hangar, on the northeast corner of Underwood Street and Murphy Avenue, fair mullet IPA at Ball Park Cafe, located on the east side of Underwood Street between Dan Patch and Carnes avenues, and strawberry squeeze at Coasters, on the southeast corner of Carnes Avenue and Liggett Street.

Other Lupulin beers poured at the fair include tropical fun pants and American pilsner. They can also be found in the taproom in Big Lake.

It is the fifth year the beer maker has drinks at the fair.
