(KNSI) — The Sartell Police Department is taking RSVPs for its annual Cookout with Cops event next month.

Officers will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers at St. Francis Xavier Church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on August 25th. Sartell Community Service Officer Taylor Bartlett says it is an excellent chance for police to interact with seniors and the community.

“We’ll have safety seminars from different sponsoring agencies in the area. In years past we’ve had Mayo Ambulance come out, we’ve had K9 demonstrations, our violent offender task force would come and speak. So, we’re working on putting those details together.”

He says the lunch is designed for seniors, but others can join them.
“If they have family members or if they need support from somebody else to be able to attend the event, that’s not a problem at all. We’re not going to turn people away if they decide to bring their their grandkids or or their children or whoever.”

The department asks people to RSVP ahead of time so police can get a head count and make sure they have enough food. You can RSVP by calling 320-258-7365. You’ll be prompted to leave a voicemail with your name, phone number, and the number of attendees.
