(KNSI) – Stearns County is asking people to take the clean water pledge.
The county re-Tweeted a message from H2YouMN asking for area residents to do their part to help keep water drinkable, fishable and swimmable. A message asks people to take the pledge by making clean water choices at home, in the yard, and with their vehicles and pets.
Some tips include maintaining septic systems, planting pollinator-friendly gardens, using less salt on driveways in the winter and dropping medications into designated boxes instead of flushing them down the toilet. Volunteers can also adopt a storm drain to help keep extra debris out of the water system.
H2YouMN is part of the Central Minnesota Water Education Alliance, a coalition of Central Minnesota cities, counties, townships, and other organizations that provides educational outreach to promote water quality stewardship.
