Four Stearns County Women in Running for Princess Kay Designation

(KNSI) – Four local women are finalists to be named the 69th Princess Kay of the Milky Way. All hail from Stearns County and are listed below.

• Alex Christen, 20, of Sauk Centre, representing Stearns County; daughter of Glen and Becky Christen

• Hailey Frericks, 19, of Albany, representing Stearns County; daughter of Steve and Tammy Frericks

• Kallie Frericks, 19, of Albany, representing Stearns County; daughter of Steve and Tammy Frericks

• Briana Maus, 18, of Freeport, representing Stearns County; daughter of Darrel and Lisa Maus

They took part in an in-person networking and leadership workshop in Minneapolis over the weekend. In addition to the obligations associated with those events, the women were each interviewed personally and conducted a mock media interview. They also had to prepare and deliver a speech.

The winner will be crowned in August. Each finalist is judged on their knowledge of the industry and whether they can be an enthusiastic advocate for dairy farmers.

The winner will get a $2,000 scholarship and a stipend to offset costs associated with the many appearances she is scheduled to make over the upcoming year.
