(KNSI) — The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the man shot to death during an apparent traffic dispute on Easter.

The medical examiner says 61-year-old William Haire of Buffalo died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police say they were called just before 3:00 to an area near the Maple Grove Walmart for a report of “an altercation between two motorists.” Someone fired a shot toward Haire’s vehicle and then they both left the area. Officers found Haire in his car off Interstate 94 and Maple Grove Parkway. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where he died a few hours later.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public but did not say if they have a suspect in custody. Investigators ask anyone who may have seen what happened or who has any information about the case to call 763-494-6246.
