(KNSI) – The Saint Cloud Norsemen got to a single-season record over the weekend, picking up wins 40 and 41 against Northern Iowa. They leaned heavily on forward Ryan O’Neill, particularly on Saturday, when he notched three assists. It vaulted O’Neill ahead of Jake Black of the Johnstown Tomahawks for the scoring title.
In 57 games played, O’Neill tallied 30 goals and 50 assists. The 80 total points was most in the league, as was O’Neill’s 1.40 points per game. After the game was finished, O’Neill passed on taking an individual photo to commemorate his accomplishment. Instead, he posed with the entire squad in recognition of their contribution to his overall mark.
The Roseville, Minnesota native is committed to the University of Saint Thomas for the fall. Before then he will look to help the Norsemen advance through the postseason. The Division Semi-Final Round begins this weekend. Saint Cloud has never won the Robertson Cup.
