(KNSI) — St. Cloud Area School District 742 says it has chosen its next Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education.
In a press release, the district says it has hired Kay Nelson to fill the role. Nelson is the current Assistant Superintendent of Sartell-St. Stephen Schools and has over 30 years of experience as a K-12 music teacher, secondary choral director, and curriculum director. She was just named the recipient of the 2022 Outstanding Central Office Leader Award from the Minnesota Association of School Administrators.
Nelson’s first day is July 1st. That’s the same day Dr. Laurie Putnam, current Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, becomes Superintendent of St. Cloud Area Schools. Current Superintendent Willie Jett announced last year he is stepping down to spend more time with his family.
