(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Health now has more than $26 million to help offset the costs of COVID testing.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety announced the funding as an advance payment for the costs of COVID-19 testing across the state from January through March of 2022.
The advance payment of $26,931,775 will pay for continued COVID-19 testing at schools, tribal and long-term care facilities, local public health sites, and pop-up clinics in the state.
“COVID-19 has presented unique challenges for all of us and responding to the pandemic over the last two years has required collaboration across many sectors,” Commissioner of Health Jan Malcolm said. “We are thankful for the support and partnership of all our partners, and in particular the resources provided by the federal government to help sustain our response work.”
FEMA will cover 100% of the costs of eligible expenses for the project.
