(KNSI) – A 4.5-mile section of the Beaver Island Trail in St. Cloud will be redone if approved by the city council. The $1.25 million reconstruction project will be on Monday’s agenda for a vote. Mayor Dave Kleis says work on the section of the trail is overdue.
“From SCSU where the dam is all the way down past out towards MC stop the trail will be redone it’s been in need of that for a long time”
If approved on Monday, work will start on the heavily used trail after the snow melts.
“And with that then we’ll start construction this year and this will be redone and this is the trail that’s utilized quite often”
The mayor says the work will be an inconvenience for many trail users. The $1.25 million Beaver Island Regional Trail Restoration Project has been awarded $500,000 from the Minnesota Legacy Grant funding program for the project. The remaining $750,000 will come from local funds including the local option sales tax.
