(KNSI) — Another wintery blast is on the way as a winter weather advisory is issued for almost the eastern half of Minnesota Tuesday.
Benton, Morrison, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright Counties are all in the advisory area. The winter weather advisory starts at 9:00 Tuesday morning and is in effect until 6:00 Tuesday evening.
The National Weather Service says snow will develop across the state from mid to late morning and push into Wisconsin during the afternoon. Totals are expected to range from three to five inches in central Minnesota. The snow could turn to a freezing drizzle for a time before ending Tuesday evening, causing some minor ice accumulations. Slippery roads can lead to dicey travel later on. The latest road conditions can be found by clicking here. Travelers can also call 511. It’s a free call from any phone.
Behind the system is an arctic pool of air, with lows expected to be below zero for the remainder of the week. Highs won’t get much warmer than the single digits above zero. 2022 will also start off cold, with a high of one below expected on Saturday.
