(KNSI) — A St. Cloud State University graduate is representing the United States at the Expo 2020 World’s Fair in Dubai.

St. Paul native and SCSU grad Belinda Lee is one of 75 USA Pavilion Youth Ambassadors representing the U.S. at the World’s Fair. Lee was chosen through a nationwide selection process. Ambassadors are from 46 states, studying at 78 universities across the U.S., and speak 24 languages.

The pavilion’s theme is Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of the Future. Lee joins the other ambassadors in engaging visitors to the pavilion on American values, innovation, history, and culture. The pavilion also highlights U.S. history of invention, up to the innovation of today’s companies.

Lee graduated from St. Cloud State with an undergraduate degree in Travel and Tourism in 2016 and a master’s degree in College Counseling and Student Development in 2020. She previously served as the interim director of Education Abroad at St. Cloud State. The Fair was postponed a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lee will be in Dubai until March when the Fair ends.

This is the first time the World Expo is being held in the Middle East.
