(KNSI) — One person is dead after a shooting that led to a car crash in Minneapolis.
Around 8:00 Tuesday night, police were called to a person who had been shot on the 500 block of 49th Avenue North via a ShotSpotter activation. Shortly after that, they were called about a crash near 49th Avenue and Interstate 94. A car was found on the road near the 49th Avenue overpass. The crash was caught on a Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic cam. It shows a vehicle careening through bushes and trees and slamming down onto the freeway. In a press release, police believe the vehicle traveled from 49th Avenue North and down the ramp before the crash.
The man inside the vehicle had suffered at least one gunshot wound. CPR was started, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
No arrests have been made in this case. So far this year in Minneapolis, 67 people have been murdered. That includes at least three children. The city is not far from a record number of homicides, which was set in 1995.
