(KNSI) – Stearns County is at a marginal risk for severe weather on Monday.

The National Weather Service says storms will initiate in western Minnesota midafternoon and push through central Minnesota and into western Wisconsin after midnight. Widespread rainfall is expected, and some training storms are possible with this system. Training storms continue to redevelop over the same areas, dumping heavy rain for long periods. Forecasters say amounts near two inches are not out of the question.

A part of Benton County and all of Sherburne and Wright Counties are also at a marginal risk for severe weather. Morrison County is under a general thunderstorm outlook.

All storms, forecasters say, are capable of producing hail. The greatest wind and tornado threats will be in southeastern Minnesota.
