(KNSI) – The state of Minnesota reports 2,050 new COVID-19 cases Friday along with 18 more COVID deaths.

While 12 of the new fatalities were reported from September and one from August, four were part of an apparent backlog and dated back to March through June 2021. None of Friday’s reported COVID deaths were found in the five-county St. Cloud area, but there are 206 new local cases.

  • Benton: 23
  • Morrison: 16
  • Sherburne: 42
  • Stearns: 64
  • Wright: 61

The state processed more than 40,000 COVID tests on Thursday, and 5.1 percent of them came back positive.

Hospitalizations across Minnesota continue to rise, with 695 people now in the hospital for COVID treatment. One hundred and eighty-five of those patients are in the ICU.

COVID vaccinations are staying at a steady pace, now with 60.2 percent of the state’s total population vaccinated against COVID with at least one dose. Between Tuesday and Wednesday (the most recent day for which vaccination data is available), more than 10,000 Minnesotans received either their first or second dose of the vaccine.
