(KNSI) – A St. Cloud man faces two felony charges after he allegedly beat, strangled and threatened to kill a woman.
St. Cloud Police were called to a domestic assault in progress on Saturday at a home in the 1000 block of 13th Street South.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman there told police that she and 31-year-old Destin Michael Ertel were arguing, and when she tried to call 911, Ertel took her phone. She said Ertel shoved her against a wall when she tried to get her phone back. Police say she then tried to lock herself in the bathroom, but Ertel broke down the door and choked her.
The woman was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a concussion and had injuries to her forehead, thumb and neck, police say.
Ertel was taken to the Stearns County Jail and is has been charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation, felony threats of violence and gross misdemeanor domestic assault.
