(KNSI) – A man accused of shooting a 17-year-old during a large fight in downtown St. Cloud has been charged and a warrant issued for his arrest.
According to court records, 20-year-old Kevon Washington has been charged with second-degree assault and rioting.
Police say Washington is suspected of the shooting after law enforcement reviewed surveillance footage from the parking ramp where the shooting occurred.
According to the criminal complaint, St. Cloud Police were on patrol near the Centre Square Parking Ramp around 1:00 a.m. on June 20 when a group of people began fighting in a parking lot near First Street and Fifth Avenue South.
The officer said he saw a man raise his arm and fire bullets from a handgun in the direction of the parking ramp.
Police found the 17-year-old on the second level of the parking ramp with a gunshot wound to his right elbow and foot.
Several other people were involved in what police described as multiple fights in the parking lot.
Many of the suspects in the case physically obstructed officers, and one unidentified man punched an officer in the head, according to the complaints.
Four others have been charged with rioting in connection to the brawl.
