(KNSI) – A family of seven was displaced after a fire in their home Thursday morning.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says crews were called to a house fire in Dassel Township at 1:00 a.m. When they arrived, there was smoke and fire on the main floor of the home, but quickly put the fire out, saving it from further damage.

The homeowners, Amanda and Dustin Darwin, and their five children were able to get out and paramedics checked them for possible smoke inhalation, but no one was taken to the hospital from the scene.

Investigators believe the fire started in a clothes dryer in the laundry room, which sustained significant fire and smoke damage, as did the kitchen.

The American Red Cross was called in to help.
