(KNSI) – Almost all of Central Minnesota, including the St. Cloud area, remains in drought conditions.

According to the National Drought Mitigation Center, Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Wright, and Morrison County are in moderate drought.

According to meteorologists, 74.5% of Minnesota is experiencing moderate drought conditions.

Data shows 13.75% of the state is in severe drought. The rest of the state is classified as abnormally dry.

Around 3.8 million Minnesotans are living in an area classified as experiencing a drought.

There’s a chance of rain this weekend, but it’s unknown if it will be enough to make a difference.

Minnesota experienced an abnormally dry May, and that trend has continued into June.
