(KNSI) – Organizers are planning to hold the Minnesota State Fair in 2021.
The Great Minnesota Get-Together was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Minnesota State Fair General Manager Jerry Hammer said “planning is proceeding” for the 2021 event, as he believes there are “plenty of reasons for optimism.”
The plan is to hold the festivities from August 26th to September 6th on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds were recently used as a vaccination site.
Officials say the cancellation of last year’s fair caused an operating loss of over 16-million dollars.
To make up some of the revenue lost, fair organizers sold “at-home edition” packages, held an online marketplace, and put on a State Fair Food Parade.
