(KNSI) — If you think it’s unseasonably warm today, you’re right.
Mike Griesinger, forecaster with the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, says temps like this don’t happen this early too often.
“Something like this, frequency-wise, comes around once every five to ten years at best.”
The record high for St. Cloud for April 5th is 81, which was set in 1991, and Greisinger says that it is in danger of falling.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to rumble in around sunset, bringing a wetter and cooler weather pattern.
Griesinger explains that a cold front in South Dakota is headed our way.
“Just east of Pierre in South Dakota there’s a cold front and that front will be moving through the St. Cloud area probably around 6 to 8:00, somewhere in there we’re expecting some scattered thunderstorms to develop along that front.”
He says the base of the storms will be around 10,000 feet, so the chance for any tornadoes is slim, but higher winds and hail are not out of the question.
