(KNSI) — The Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota have received a $10,000 grant from Delta Dental of Minnesota for the Healthy Smiles Healthy Kids program.
The program is designed to instill in kids good dental hygiene and life habits by working through five areas.
- The Cavity Free Zone – Teaching kids about the importance of healthy dental hygiene habits
- Daily Meal Program – Teaching kids about the importance of proper nutrition and its connection to healthy dental hygiene habits
- Health and Life Skills – Preventing the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and teaching kids about the impact of poor food choices and its connection to oral health.
- Parental Communication – Encouraging parents to reinforce healthy habits at home
- Incentives – Recognizing kids for their participation and applications of healthy learned habits
According to a press release from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota, Joe Lally, Vice President of Government and Community Relations of Delta Dental of Minnesota says, “A healthy smile is a good indicator of overall health, and that’s why it’s so important to build solid oral health habits with kids. Delta Dental of Minnesota is happy to provide our sixteenth year of support to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota and recognize its commitment to teaching kids important oral health lessons.”
The Healthy Smiles Healthy Kids program at the Roosevelt, Southside and Eastside Clubs until February 28th, 2022.
