(KNSI) – Minneapolis residents seem to be in a good spot — at least in terms of personal debt and STEM career opportunities. According to WalletHub, Minneapolis is one of the best metro areas for STEM professionals and where residents are accumulating less personal debt than in other metro areas around the U.S.
In the ranking of metro areas that best support STEM professionals, Minneapolis ranks fifth among 100 cities. The evaluation considers housing affordability, what percentage of the metro area’s workforce has jobs in STEM, employment growth in that sector and the median wage for STEM workers.
As for WalletHub’s ranking of cities whose residents are taking on the most debt during COVID-19, Minneapolis fares pretty well — 96th. The ranking considers how much credit card, mortgage and auto loan debt increased between Q3 and Q4 of 2020 for people in these metro areas.
