St. Cloud man sentenced

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KNSI) A 25 year-old St. Cloud man was sentenced in federal court in Minneapolis Thursday after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Shawn Allen Roering was given seventeen years in prison after being indicted last April and pleading guilty last August.

Roering admitted possessing a semi-automatic rifle and attempting to sell it. The barrel of the rifle was sawed off, and the serial number had been removed from the weapon. Police learned the rifle had been stolen.

Roering has prior convictions for aiding and abetting simple robbery in Wright County, fleeing a police officer in Morrison County and fourth-degree sale of a controlled substance in Benton County.
