(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Rox baseball team will play its home opener Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Duluth Huskies. With the loosened COVID-19 safety measures in Minnesota, Rox co-owner Scott Schreiner says Joe Faber Field is open at full capacity.

“The mask mandate is no longer in place, so certainly [if] fans feel comfortable wearing masks, they can — I know we’ll have some staff members with them on — but otherwise, it’s at the discretion of the fans,” he said.

Former Minnesota Twins player and field manager Ron Gardenhire will make an appearance at the game, signing autographs, taking pictures with fans and throwing the ceremonial first pitch. There will also be a postgame fireworks show.

“We’re excited to get going under more normal circumstances than last year, so we’re excited,” Schreiner said.

The Rox opened its season Wednesday, playing the Mankato Moondogs. The Rox lost its games in Mankato on Wednesday and Thursday.
