(KNSI) — For families hitting the road for the Labor Day holiday weekend, one potential roadblock, depending on where you travel, could be gas prices.

According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is around $3.82. Prices in Minnesota are hovering around $3.64, but around St. Cloud, it’s cheaper yet – still not a bargain – at $3.53. That’s down slightly from a week ago at $3.61.

If drivers are heading to the North Shore, that’s where some of the most expensive gas prices are at $3.69 in St. Louis County, $3.82 in Lake County and $3.82 in Cook County.

In the Twin Cities, gas is around $3.75.

Prices for those heading to the Alexandria, Brainerd and Otter Tail County lakes areas are around $3.50.

The price for a barrel of crude is under $80, but with a potentially active hurricane season on the horizon, the small bit of relief we have been seeing could be short lived.
