(KNSI) - St. Cloud Tech took it to Rogers 40-14 to advance to the section championship game.
The Royals got an early score off a tipped ball that was ruled a backwards pass, and an alert defender scooped it up and ran it in the for the score.
After that it was all Tech, as they added a defensive score of their own.
A host of Tech defenders converged on the quarterback backed up to his goal line, when Brady Underwood got the strip-sack and fell on the loose ball in the end zone for the score.
The Tigers showed a new formation during the game, using the wildcat to throw off the Royals defense.
James Kaczor couldn't be stopped in the formation, scoring two rushing touchdowns and throwing for one.
Kaczor connected with Trent Meyer who made a great one handed grab in the end zone.
Scott Kippley also scored in the semi-final rout of #2 seeded Rogers.
The defense only gave up one touchdown and senior defensive back Graham Nistler shined, with two of the biggest hits all year.
St. Cloud will play the defending state champs, #1 seed Elk River Friday night at 7:00 from Buffalo High School.
