(KNSI) - Seniors missed their final spring sports seasons but not many teams had more seniors affected than the Rocori Spartans' Baseball Team.
Rocori had a total of 11 players and one manager that missed their final season; one that may have sent them to state.
Last season, the Spartans lost in game one of the Section 5-AAA Championships to Monticello and many sports enthusiasts thought they had a great shot to get back to the section championship game this season.
Shortstop, Jack Steil was among the senior Spartans and he joined the Saturday Sports Special to talk about playing three sports, heading to Division-I Nebraska and even touched on winning a state championship in football.
Along with Steil, the area missed out on senior seasons from Nolan Notch, Sam Distel, Collin Eskew, DJ Kron, Dawson Hemmesch and Max Hansen.
Reed Bartell, Brock Humbert, Rudy Notch, Reid Emerson and manager, Megan Illies will all be greatly missed by head coach Jeff Illies and Rocori baseball fans.
Although we missed out on what most assuredly would have been a great season, Leighton Broadcasting and KNSI would like to thank the Rocori Baseball seniors for all they have done and for what they undoubtedly will continue to do for the area.
