(KNSI) - A Hall of Fame coach at St. Cloud State University has died.

Former baseball coach John Kasper passed away on May 6th at age 98.

He was a baseball coach from 1949 until the late 60s.

He is the second-winningest baseball coach in SCSU history with a win/loss record of 213-128.

His teams won three Northern Intercollegiate Conference (NIC) titles, one bi-state title and finished runner-up seven times.

In 1982, with the encouragement of Athletic Director Noel Olson, Kasper founded the SCSU athletic hall of fame in 1982.

He was inducted into the hall in 1989, one year after his retirement.

Proceeds from his book, The Husky Tradition: A History of Men's Athletics at St. Cloud State University, published in 1980, helped to launch the Hall of Fame program.
