(KNSI) - St. Cloud Apollo attempted to get past the tough loss from earlier this week with a win but the Sabres of Sartell stood tall and shut the door by winning three sets to none.
Apollo swung out to a quick lead in the first set but Sartell quickly bounced back and won 25-17 behind Elizabeth Dille's seven kills.
The 5-foot-11 sophomore was truly the difference in set number-one as she was everywhere on the court and a force for Sartell's head coach Sarah Hornseth.
In the second set, Sartell once again pulled away 25-14 after an early flurry from Paige Cox and Apollo was just not enough.
Dille added three-consecutive aces and four total to go with her four kills in set number-two to help her team to a quick two sets to nothing lead.
Sartell sprinted-out to a 7-0 lead in the third set behind more stellar play as Hornseth's team was firing on all cylinders.
The Eagles fought hard and brought the themselves within six points but the Sabres completed the set-sweep with a score of 25-14.
Noelle Hackenmueller continued to play well for Apollo but unforced-errors continued to be their downfall as they now fall to the record of 1-6.
Apollo's next game will be against the Storm at Sauk Rapids on Tuesday September 17th at 7:00 p.m.
Katelyn Hammer brought great play once again for the Sabres by adding a multitude of blocks to excite the well-traveled away crowd.
Sartell now has a record of 5-0 and will play Cloquet at the North Branch Invite Saturday, September 14th at 9:00 a.m.
Although she did not record one kill in the final set, Elizabeth Dille (pictured above) was named the All-Star Trophy Player of the Game for her efforts.
