(KNSI) - The Cathedral Crusaders defeated St. Cloud Area 8-3 at Hockey Day Minnesota at St. Cloud's Lake George.

Cathedral and St. Cloud exchanged goals in the first period.

Jack Smith and Luke Schmidt each scored Cathedral.

Nick Portz and Carter Rieland scored for St. Cloud.

The score was 2-2 going into the first intermission.

In the second period, Noah Bisset scored early for St. Cloud to put them up 3-2.

Cathedral's Blake Perbix tied the game up shortly after.

Near the end of the period, Jack Smith scored his second goal of the night and put Cathedral up 4-3 going into the second intermission.

Right as the third period started, Jackson Savoie scored to give Cathedral a 5-2 lead.

Late in the third period, Nate Martin added an insurance goal for Cathedral to make it 6-3.

Near the end of the period, Jack Smith scored his third goal to get the hat trick.

With a minute left of the period, Jake Minkkinen scored and made it 8-3.

The final score of the game was 8-3 in favor of Cathedral.

Cathedral's Jack Smith was selected as the All Star Trophy and Awards player of the game.
