(KNSI) - The Cathedral Crusaders lost to the Hermantown Hawks 4-3 on Friday Night.

It was a rematch from the state semi-finals last year, where Hermantown eliminated Cathedral, and then went on to become the 2017 state champions.

Hermantown's Jake Herter scored first in the first period, to give the Hawks and early 1-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, Cathedral tied it up with a goal from Cullen Hiltner. The score was 1-1 going into the first intermission.

In the second period, Hermantown's Darian Gotz scored to put the Hawks ahead 2-2.

That goal was soon answered by Cathedral's Mack Motzko to tie the game back up.

Darian Gotz scored again late in the period to put the Hawks back ahead by one.

Near the end of the period, Cathedral's Blake Perbix tied the game up 3-3, and that was the score going into the second intermission.

Right away in the third period, Hermantown's Jake Hausmann scored the go ahead goal for the Hawks to make it 4-3.

The Crusaders pulled their goalie with a minute left in the game, but were not able to get a goal. The final score of the game was 4-3 in favor of the hawks.

Hermantown also won the shots on goal battle 28-16.

Cathedral's Mack Motzko was selected as the All Star Trophy and Awards player of the game with 1 goal for the Crusaders.
