(KNSI) - St. Cloud Cathedral defeated Breck 5-3 on Thursday night.

Cathedral started off slow, and were not able to get any offense going.

Near the end of the first period, Breck scored on the power play to give them an early 1-0 lead.

1-0 was the score going in to the first intermission.

In the second period, the game got much more interesting.

Nate Warner scored early to tie the game up.

Breck answered with a goal from Grant Larson to give them back a 2-1 lead.

Late in the second period, Ethan Cumming and Jack Smith each scored a goal within a minute of each other to give Cathedral a 3-2 lead going into the second intermission.

In the third period, things got heated and each team was called for a 5 minute major penalty.

Jack Smith and Blake Perpix each scored an empty net goal near the end of the period to put Cathedral up 5-2.

Breck's Harrison Klopp scored a goal in garbage time to cut into Cathedral's lead, but the final score of 5-3 in favor of Cathedral.

Jack Smith had 2 goals for Cathedral and was selected as the All Star Trophy and Awards player of the game.

Nate Warner, Ethan Cumming, and Blake Perpix each had 1 goal for Cathedral.

Harrison Klopp, Grand Larson, and Matthew Conroy each had 1 goal for Breck.
